Harboring Sin
“Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.” Proverbs 28:13 (ESV)
When we harbor sin, when we nurture it in a hidden place of our heart and rehearse it in our mind, we are only hurting ourselves. Like a cancer, concealed sin will eat us from the inside out. Better is the one who is honest with himself and his Lord about his transgression, even if all outward appearances point to failure, than one who seems to have it all together on the outside, but is actually in turmoil on the inside.
Let’s pray today that we may quickly leave our sin at the foot of the cross and repent before we have time to cherish it.
