Being Joyless
“Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10 (NIV)
When we are joyless we can turn to our Lord on Calvary and allow His joy to fill our mind, hearts, and soul. When sadness sinks us low in despair or we fear for our future, it is in Jesus that we can be lifted by His love, His righteousness, His salvation. Out of the pain of the cross comes joy that lasts and strength to know that we too will not just survive but thrive in eternity.
In the experiences of humanity there is a time for grieving our losses, but at some point we must raise our eyes upon the Lord and accept His strength. Jesus knows our sorrows and in these times sadness we will find His arms outstretched to us.
Let’s pray today that we will not remain in despair but will turn to the Lord and find strength in His joy.
