“For this is what the high and exalted One says—he who lives forever, whose name is holy: I live in a high and holy place, but also with the one who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.” Isaiah 57:15 (NIV)
God dwells where He is needed and where a heart of repentance welcomes His reviving grace. You will find God with those who are humble and rejected by those who are puffed up with pride. He is there for those who mourn, those who hurt, and those who struggle with loneliness. He has compassion on those who have compassion on others, whose heart’s long for God’s reviving.
The God we serve is not a distant deity who is inaccessible but He also lives within the heart that welcomes His presence. In the life of His Son Jesus we see God with us and in the work of the Holy Spirit we see God within us.
Let’s pray today that we allow God’s Spirit to give us a heart for Him and His forgiveness.
